HOT LOTTO TO OFFER TAXES PAID JACKPOT
Game Changes Effective May 12th
The Hot Lotto game is about to get a lot hotter! Beginning May 12th, Hot Lotto will offer a taxes paid jackpot, more number choices and bigger prizes.
Hot Lotto is a jackpot style game that is similar to Powerball but has better odds and smaller jackpots.
The revamped Hot Lotto game will offer a starting jackpot of $1 million cash with state and federal withholding taxes paid for the winner.
“With the improved Hot Lotto game, if an Oklahoma player wins the jackpot, they will receive at least $1 million in cash,” said Rollo Redburn, executive director of the Oklahoma Lottery. “Since the withholding taxes are now paid on the jackpot prize, that means there will be more money in our winners’ hands.”
Also changing is the number of white balls in the game. Players will now choose five balls from a pool of 47 (currently 39) and another number, the Hot Ball®, from a separate pool of 19 numbers (no changes).
In addition to the taxes paid jackpot, several other prize levels in the game will also be increasing.
See the prize matrix below for the new prize levels.
Hot Lotto remains $1 per play and the Sizzler option, which triples non-jackpot prizes, will still cost an additional $1 per play.
Hot Lotto drawings will continue to be held on Wednesdays and Saturdays after 9 p.m. Hot Lotto is played in Oklahoma, 14 other states and the District of Columbia. The overall odds of winning in the redesigned game will be 1 in 17.22.
