Lottery Transfers an Extra $12 Million to Beneficiary

Oklahoma City (July 29, 2013)—The Oklahoma Lottery announced today that it transferred  to the state $12 million more than what was appropriated to Oklahoma education from fiscal year 2013 Lottery proceeds.  The Lottery’s total beneficiary contribution for the year is $70,113,526.

“We are pleased to share that our contributions over the last four years have continued to exceed our projections,” said Rollo Redburn, executive director of the Oklahoma Lottery. “We work very hard to provide the kind of games our players enjoy and they continue to help us raise money for Oklahoma education.”

Since its launch in 2005, the Lottery has contributed more than $39 million in additional funds to Oklahoma education.

 “The Lottery has now raised more than $550 million for education,” said Redburn. “This is just a reminder that education and Oklahoma children are the real winners.”

About the Oklahoma Lottery
Net proceeds of all Lottery games are used to support improvements and enhancements for Oklahoma education. More than $558 million has been contributed to education since October 2005 with funds appropriated by the State Legislature to pay debt service on a higher education capital bond issue; to pay support salaries for public schools and for equipment, scholarships and other purposes at our career and technology education institutions.
