Lottery Announces National Millionaire Raffle
Sales on Pick 4 Coming to an End
The Oklahoma Lottery announced today the launch of a new multi-state raffle. The National Millionaire Raffle is set to begin Sept. 15 and offers Oklahoma players their best chance to win a $1 million prize.
Tickets will cost $10 each and raffle sales will end on Oct. 31. The drawing is scheduled for Nov. 1.
“This is the first $10 game we have been able to offer in Oklahoma,” said Rollo Redburn the executive director of the Oklahoma Lottery. “Our players have been asking for a $10 ticket and they are going to love the $1 million prizes.”
The National Millionaire Raffle is guaranteed to award at least two $1 million prizes and the number of million dollar prizes will increase as sales for the raffle grow.
“As the game progresses, players will be able to check at lottery retail locations or access the lottery web site to see the latest number of million dollar prizes available,” said Redburn. “This will be a much more exciting raffle than players across the country have seen before.”
“The more sales in the game, the more $1 million prizes will be awarded. We are hoping that sales in the game will be strong enough to support the award of 18 to 24, $1 million dollar prizes.”
If Oklahoma does not have a $1 million winner, the state is guaranteed to have a $50,000 prize winner.
Raffle tickets can be purchased at any Lottery retailer. With each ticket purchase, Oklahoma players will also receive an entry to win a 2014 Chevy Cruze.
Redburn added, “The raffle was created so the participating states can customize the game by offering additional prizes, starting at different times or using different names. In Oklahoma, we are providing a trail ticket with each raffle ticket that will allow the player to enter for a chance to win a new car.”
In addition to Oklahoma, the other participating states are: Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, New Jersey and New York.
Pick 4 Game to End
The Oklahoma Lottery also reminds players that the last day of sales for the Pick 4 game will be Sept. 14 with the final drawing being held that night.
The move to end the Pick 4 game was approved by the Oklahoma Lottery Board of Trustees in their June meeting.
“The Pick 4 game was launched in July of 2011 and it has underperformed since that time,” said Redburn. “This puts the Lottery at a liability for payouts and with the mandated 35 percent profit requirement, the Lottery is not in a position to risk earnings for our education beneficiaries.”
“Ending the Pick 4 game will allow the Lottery to make room for additional games that will be better accepted by our players, such as the National Millionaire Raffle. We are also working on the addition of a poker themed game that should launch around the start of 2014.”
Along with ending the Pick 4 game, the Super Multi-Pick and the Daily Multi-Pick purchase options will no longer be offered.
