Powerball Power Play Multiplier Drawing is Back
Changes Effective with Sales Starting January 19th

OKLAHOMA CITY (Jan. 16, 2014) - Powerball is bringing back more excitement to the game. The Power Play multiplier drawing is back and offers Powerball players the chance to increase their winnings. The changes will be effective with sales starting Sunday, Jan. 19.

The Power Play option is an additional $1 per play and it gives players the chance to increase their prizes by up to five times the original prize amount.  The return of the variable multiplier means prizes can be multiplied by 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x for any of the prizes except the Jackpot and Match 5 prize.

In January 2012, the Power Play option changed to a set prize structure instead of a variable structure.  Now the prize structure will return to the variable format.

The odds of winning any of the Powerball prizes will not change, as the main game matrix itself is not changing.

The first Powerball drawing with the effective changes will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
