OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 10, 2015) - The Powerball jackpot for Wednesday night's drawing has rolled for the 20th time since December 3, 2014 and has skyrocketed to $450 million! The estimated cash value of the jackpot is $304 million. This is the third largest jackpot in the game's history.
"This history-making jackpot is stirring up excitement all over the state," said Oklahoma Lottery Executive Director Rollo Redburn. "The Powerball jackpot hasn't been this high since last February. It is generating sales that will increase our contribution to education, which is why the lottery is here. We are very excited about that." Redburn added, "We have had 4 Powerball jackpot winners in Oklahoma and if we can get our fifth jackpot winner on this run, that would be amazing!"
Players have until 8:59 p.m. on Wednesday to purchase tickets for the next Powerball drawing. Powerball drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m.
With the Powerball jackpot at $450 million, the Oklahoma Lottery is encouraging everyone to play responsibly.
Net proceeds of all Lottery games are used to support improvements and enhancements for Oklahoma education. More than $652 million has been contributed to education since November 2005 with funds appropriated by the State Legislature to pay debt service on a higher education capital bond issue; to pay support salaries for public schools and for equipment, scholarships and other purposes at our career and technology education institutions.
