OKLAHOMA CITY (September 5, 2017) - A $50,000 winning Powerball ticket from the historic August 23rd drawing was claimed at Lottery headquarters by Terri Leeper of Alva.
Leeper successfully matched four white balls and the Powerball winning $50,000. After taxes, she received a total of $35,500.
The winning ticket was purchased at Shepherds #700 located at 1512 Oklahoma Blvd. in Alva, OK. This Shepherds location sold this big winning ticket on its first day of business.
At $758 million, the August 23rd jackpot was the second highest jackpot in Powerball’s 25-year history. The highest Powerball jackpot amount ever awarded was in January of 2016 at $1.58 billion.
Including the ticket sold at Shepherds, three $50,000 Powerball winning tickets were sold in the state of Oklahoma for the August 23rd drawing.
