Oklahoma City, Okla. (April 12, 2011)—Joe and Alice Gray of Mangum have claimed the winning Powerball ticket worth $1,000,000. The couple chose the Power Play option for an additional dollar and became instant millionaires by matching five of five white balls.
The Gray’s learned they had won on Sunday morning when Alice read the winning numbers in the newspaper.
“He didn’t believe me,” she said. “He had to double check the paper himself and his eyes got really big when he read the numbers! We wore the newspaper out from checking the numbers!”
The couple purchased their winning ticket at The Loop Quick Stop at 918 N. Louis Tittle in Mangum and received their numbers via Easy Pick. No doubt the two were relieved to have added Power Play.
“We are definitely glad we added Power Play!” said Alice. “We always play Power Play and we always say you can’t win if your name isn’t in the pot!”
Joe says they will keep playing the Lottery, “we are going for a really big one!”
The Gray’s plan to save their money and use a portion of the funds toward retirement.
