Press Release

OKLAHOMA CITY (April 15, 2008) – Oklahoma City resident, Steve Trimble, is Oklahoma’s first Hot Lotto jackpot winner with a ticket worth $3.8 million. He purchased the winning ticket at Q-Max, a convenience store located at 2921 S. Agnew in Oklahoma City.

A former employee at Oklahoma City’s CMC Steel Group, Trimble quit his job the day after learning he had the winning ticket. He said his hands were shaking and he could barely drive due to the excitement.

“I’ve been working since I was 12 years old,” said 50-year-old Trimble. “I never thought I would be a millionaire and I’m looking forward to enjoying my early retirement.”
His tentative plans for the future include playing more golf, traveling and investing his earnings. He let the computer pick his number and he feels blessed to have won.
Hot Lotto launched in Oklahoma on Jan. 3. It is played like Powerball, and features jackpots starting at $1 million. There are nine ways to win, and tickets cost $1. Besides the jackpot prizes, players can win one of eight other cash prizes, ranging from $2 to $10,000. By adding the Sizzler feature, players can automatically triple their prize, excluding the jackpot. The overall odds of winning a Hot Lotto prize are better than 1 in 16.

Net proceeds of all Lottery games are used to support improvements and enhancements for Oklahoma education. More than $175 million has been contributed to education since November 2005.

Proceeds are used statewide to supplement existing funds for a variety of important purposes, including: teacher compensation and benefits, early childhood development programs, college scholarships, classroom technology and construction of educational facilities.
