Tulsa Residents Win $100,000 Playing Powerball
OKLAHOMA CITY (April 28, 2008) – Tulsa residents Gladys and Luis Pena won $100,000 on April 23 playing Powerball. The Power Play multiplier was 10 for this particular drawing, which awarded the Pena’s an extra $90,000 for an extra $1.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Reasor’s #13 grocery store at 11005 E 41st St. in Tulsa.
The Pena’s have been playing the Lottery every week since its launch and pick their numbers using family members’ birthdays.
“If I had used my own birthday date, I would have won the Jackpot,” said Gladys Pena. “We’re looking forward to using our winnings toward home improvements and maybe a trip to Hawaii.”
Another prize winning ticket of $100K was sold at BJ’s One Stop in Sallisaw at 2430 E. Cherokee and is currently unclaimed. In addition, there were 51 prize winners of $1,000 drawn in the April 23 Powerball drawing.
Winning numbers from the drawing were 11, 20, 21, 22, 39 and the Powerball number was 1. The Power Play multiplier was 10.
Net proceeds of all Lottery games are used to support improvements and enhancements for Oklahoma education. More than $187 million has been contributed to education since November 2005.
Proceeds are used statewide to supplement existing funds for a variety of important education purposes, including: teacher compensation and benefits, early childhood development programs, college scholarships, classroom technology and construction of educational facilities.
