Security Bank Employees Win $40,000 Playing PowerballShirley_Bay_web.jpg

Employees of Security Bank in Miami, OK found a little something to be thankful for this weekend. Thirty of the banks employees won $40,000 playing Powerball. John Dismore, the individual who claimed the prize on behalf of the group said the ticket was purchased at Buffalo Ranch in Afton, OK.

“It was an awfully cheerful Monday at the bank,” Dismore said. Employees have been pooling their money together for about a year. Everyone contributes about twice a week to purchase the tickets. Whenever employees go on “drink runs” for soda and coffee, they typically buy the tickets.

The lucky winners from Fairland, OK are: John R Dismore, Amy Lynn Davis, Kathy Welch, Tonya Inez Waybright and Linda Mercer. There are several winners from Miami, OK including: Misti Pruitt, Jacqueline Brewer, Laura Sue Mead, Patricia Brown, Mackenzie Alysse Boyd, Kaycie Lynne Wright, Jessica Waldon, Jerry Dale Kenney, Shelly Dianne Mustain, Marilyn Fessler, Robert Tyson, Martin Gold, Ramona Boyd, Kathleen Hamilton, Susan Wilson, Kyle Highsmith, Jamie Cantwell, Lisa Highsmith, Tonya Marie White, Patsy Jean Seat and Patricia Brown. Mary Elizabeth Victor and Judy Bassett from Afton, OK shared a part in the winnings as well as Richard Gouttiere from Grove, OK and Candace Key from Wyandotte, OK.

Dismore said he heard “the money would be used for such things as a new riding lawn mower, some might go into the bank, and several women mentioned they would a new purse.” The bank employees typically purchase the Easy Pick tickets and always select the power play option.

Since the Oklahoma Lottery launched, more than $145 million in prizes have been won playing Oklahoma Lottery games, said Jim Scroggins, Oklahoma Lottery Commission Executive Director.

Proceeds from Oklahoma Lottery games are used to support improvements and enhancements for education purposes and programs at all levels of education, Pre-K to higher education. So far more than $119 million has been transferred to the Oklahoma Education Lottery Trust Fund
