Press Release

OKLAHOMA CITY (August 18, 2008) – James and Catherine Bishop of Kingfisher won $50,000 playing Powerball. The couple purchased their ticket at Jacket Express, 1609 S. Main, in Kingfisher.
The Bishops have been consistently playing the Lottery for the last two months. James said he nearly had a stroke when he checked his numbers online.
“He told me to come and look and I thought he was lying,” said Catherine. “I asked him how he made the website say they had won so much!”
The couple says they have a system they follow to pick their numbers and it’s remaining a secret but they still encourage others to play. For now, the Bishops plan on spending their winnings on a new boat, motorcycle and home improvements.
Net proceeds of all Lottery games are used to support improvements and enhancements for Oklahoma education. More than $215 million has been contributed to education since November 2005.
Proceeds are used statewide to supplement existing funds for a variety of important educational purposes, including: teacher compensation and benefits, early childhood development programs, college scholarships, classroom technology, and construction of educational facilities.
