POWERBALL JACKPOT REACHES $250 MILLION
The Tenth Largest Jackpot in Powerball History
Oklahoma City (August 18, 2009) – Time is running out for Oklahomans to pick up a Powerball ticket and have a chance at $250 million in tomorrow night’s Powerball drawing. The jackpot rose today to $250 million due to an unexpected sales push. And as the tenth largest Powerball jackpot in history, anticipation is building.
“We’re excited, our retailers are excited but most of all, our players are excited,” said Rollo Redburn, Oklahoma Lottery Director of Administration. “When the jackpot amount gets this high, sales increase and that means more support for Oklahoma education—and we’re hoping an Oklahoman takes this one home!”
On a historical note, the all time record Powerball jackpot of $365 million was won by a group of eight co-workers at the Con Agra Foods plant in Lincoln, Nebraska, on February 18, 2006.
Powerball tickets may be purchased until 8:59 p.m. the evening of the drawing. Drawings are held on Wednesday and Saturday nights at 9:59 p.m.
