OKLAHOMA CITY RESIDENTS KEEP CASHING IN PLAYING THE OKLAHOMA LOTTERY
Oklahoma City (Dec. 3, 2008) – Oklahoma City residents Laverda Buford, Danielle Checotah and Betty Refour have luck on their side as recent cash winners playing the Oklahoma Lottery.
Laverda Buford won $2,500 in cash playing the Lottery’s Sapphire Riches Scratcher and plans to purchase a new flat screen television. She purchased her winning ticket at D Mart, 5025 N. Meridian Ave., in Oklahoma City.
Danielle Checotah, another Scratcher fan, cashed in her winning Cool 7s Scratcher for $1,777 in cash. At first she thought she had only won $1 but when she realized her winnings were over $1,000 she was “shocked.”
Checotah purchased her winning ticket at the Circle K at 2920 NE 36th in Oklahoma City. She plays the Lottery knowing its funds help support Oklahoma’s education and she plans on using her winnings toward holiday expenses.
Betty Refour took her chances playing Hot Lotto and won $1,509 in cash. She said she was surprised to have won and doesn’t know yet how she’ll spend her winnings. Refour purchased her winning ticket at AM PM Inc. at 8000 E. Reno in Midwest City.

Net proceeds of all Lottery games are used to support improvements and enhancements for Oklahoma education. More than $232 million has been contributed to education since November 2005 with funds directed to the higher education capital bond issue and funds directed to the Oklahoma Education Lottery Trust Fund (OELTF). The Oklahoma Legislature appropriates the OELTF.
Proceeds are used statewide to supplement existing funds for a variety of important education purposes, including: teacher compensation and benefits, early childhood development programs, college scholarships, classroom technology and construction of educational facilities.
