EXCITING WEEKEND IN STORE FOR OKLAHOMA LOTTERY PLAYERS
Saturday’s Powerball Jackpot is estimated at $180 million;
Sunday’s Pick 3 drawing begins two-week doubler promotion
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – February 2, 2006 – An exciting weekend is in store for players of Oklahoma’s computerized lottery games.
On Saturday, players will have the opportunity to play for the largest Powerball jackpot in Oklahoma Lottery history. Tickets for the estimated $180 million jackpot can be purchased at lottery-contracted retail locations until 7:59 p.m. (CST) on the night of the drawing, February 4.Beginning Sunday, February 5, Pick 3 players will have the chance to double their prize, at no extra cost, through a special two-week promotion called the Pick 3 Doubler. The special promotion will run through Saturday, February 18, and will pay additional Pick 3 prize money if an Orange ball is selected from an additional ball machine added to the current three machines used in Pick 3 drawings. Here’s how the Pick 3 Doubler promotion works:
For the 14-day promotional period, the Lottery will add a fourth draw machine to the three “regular” Pick 3 drawing machines. The additional machine will hold six white balls and one Orange “Doubler” ball. Every night as part of the regular Pick 3 drawing, one ball will be -drawn from the fourth draw machine. If the Orange “Doubler” ball comes up, all prizes for winning Pick 3 tickets for that night’s drawing will be doubled. There is no extra cost to the player for this opportunity. Every time a white ball pops up, it will be removed for the next drawing.
This process of elimination guarantees the Orange ball will come up at least once each week during the 14-day promotional period.
If, for example, a player matches the winning numbers in exact order (Straight) on the night the Orange Doubler ball comes up, that person would win $1,000 (double the amount of the regular $500 prize). Box 3-Way winners would win $320 (double the regular $160 prize); Box 6-Way winners would win $160 (double the regular $80 prize); and Front- and Back-Pair winners would win $100 (double the regular $50 prize).
- Every time the Orange “Doubler” ball is drawn during the promotional period, that ball machine will be reset with six white balls and one Orange ball and the drawing process will start over. “We believe this promotion will generate considerable additional interest in our Pick 3 game,” said Jim Scroggins, executive director of the Oklahoma Lottery. “Powerball players should remember to play responsibly and always check their tickets closely. In addition to the jackpot there are eight other prize levels, including the opportunity to win up to $1 million by purchasing the Power Play option for an extra dollar.”
For an extra dollar, the Power Play option allows players to multiply their non-jackpot prize winnings two, three, four or five times. For example, if a player selects the Power Play and the Power Play number is 5, that person’s second-tier prize (Match 5 of 5 numbers, but not the red Powerball number) increases from $200,000 to $1 million.
Pick 3 drawings are telecast live each night at 9:10 CST on KOKH-Fox and KOCB-WB in Oklahoma City, and on KWBT-WB in Tulsa. Pick 3 results are available immediately after each drawing on the lottery’s official website, listed below, and are distributed to the media for television and radio broadcast as well as printed daily in newspapers throughout the state.
