Oklahoma Powerball’s First Drawing to be Held During International Finals Rodeo

Oklahoma City, OK (January 12, 2006) – At 9:59 p.m. on January 14, 2006 the first national Powerball drawing that will include Oklahoma tickets sales will be held at the International Finals Rodeo (IFR) at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City.

Ticket sales in Oklahoma began today at 4:01 a.m. and will be sold until 7:59 p.m. on January 14 for the Saturday night drawing. Mike Pace, the national host of the Powerball drawings, as well as representatives from the Multi-State Lottery Association will be in attendance.

Annetta Abbott, IFR Event Coordinator, said she is thrilled that Powerball in Oklahoma will be kicked off in such an exciting way.

“Rodeo is a high-intensity, competitive, fast paced sport,” she said. “We feel like this Saturday’s event and Powerball combine the take-your-breathe-away, edge-of-your-seat action.”

Saturday night is the last night of the International Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City. The top 15 International Pro Rodeo Association contestants will compete in seven traditional rodeo events. All of the cowboys and cowgirls will be competing for world championship titles and over a quarter of a million dollars in prize money.

The national Powerball drawing takes place every Wednesday and Saturday at 9:59 p.m., CST.
