Oklahoma’s Two Largest Powerball Prize Winners Claim Their Prizes
Saturday’s Jackpot Grows to $101 Million

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – January 19, 2006 – Oklahoma’s Powerball game produced 35,513 winners in the Wednesday, January 18 drawing, including two $10,000 winners. Both of those winners claimed their prizes this afternoon at the Oklahoma Lottery Headquarters.

Robert VanBuskirk, a self employed plumber, purchased his ticket at Burtschi’s Conoco in his hometown of Verden, OK.   While David Wheeler, a first time lottery player, made his purchase at the Homeland in Muskogee.  Both players won by letting the terminals select their numbers.   Had they selected Power Play, they would have doubled their prizes. Out of the total number of winners, over 7000 winners doubled their winnings by selecting the Power Play option.

The official numbers were 15-29-38-52-53 with Powerball number 7.  The Power Play number was 2.

In the state’s first two drawings, Powerball tickets totaling $2,840,835 million have been purchased from Oklahoma retailers.  Approximately 18.5 percent of this amount, or $526,649, has resulted from players choosing the Power Play option for a chance to multiply their Powerball winnings (not including the jackpot) by 2, 3, 4, or 5 times the original prize amount.

Since no ticket won the top prize in last night’s drawing, the Saturday, January 21, 2006 Powerball jackpot will be an estimated $101 million.

Powerball drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 9:59 p.m. (CST) and are telecast live on the lottery’s drawing stations – KOKH-Fox and KOCB-WB in Oklahoma City, and on KWBT-WB in Tulsa.  Results are also available immediately after each drawing on the lottery’s official website at www.lottery.ok.gov and are distributed to the media for television and radio broadcast as well as printed daily in newspapers throughout the state.

Players can purchase Powerball tickets – and the optional Power Play multiplying feature – at lottery-contracted retail locations throughout the state until 7:59 p.m. (CST) on the night of the drawing.
