Oklahoma Lottery Player Wins Powerball Jackpot
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – June 18, 2006 – One very lucky Oklahoma Lottery player made Oklahoma history last night winning the $101.8 million Powerball jackpot.
Saturday night’s (June 17) winning Powerball numbers were 10-20-22-39-48, with Powerball number 25. The Power Play number was 4. The winner can either take 30 installments over a 29-year period or a lump sum payment of more than $46.2 million (before taxes). They also have sixty (60) days from when they present their ticket to make the decision of lump sum or installment payments.
No additional information is available until the player claims the prize. It is not unusual for winners to not come forward immediately, because winners have to consider a number of things before they come in to see the lottery.
“We are urging players to check their numbers closely and to contact us if they think they have the winning numbers from last night’s drawing,” said Jim Scroggins, executive director of the Oklahoma Lottery, “There are significant considerations with a prize of this amount and the Lottery would like to offer any assistance we can.”
Scroggins had the following advice for the winner, “First thing, make sure to sign the back of the ticket. That proves ownership of the ticket. Second thing, make sure it's in a safe place, don't lose it. After that, talk to an attorney and a financial adviser. Get your financial things in order, and then come talk to us, we will walk you through the rest of the way.”
All profits from the Oklahoma Lottery are used to support improvements and enhancements for educational purposes and programs at all levels – from Pre-Kindergarten to higher education.
