St. Patrick’s Day Lucky for Oklahoma Lottery Player
Duncan Resident Wins Playing Powerball
The luck of the Irish was in full force Saturday for Shirley Bay of Duncan. Bay won $600,000 playing Powerball from the Oklahoma Lottery.
When asked about her “Irish” luck, Bay said she was still in disbelief.
“I’m thrilled to pieces,” she said. “I can’t believe it yet!”
The winning ticket, purchased at Snak Shak Central in Sulphur, matched five white balls to win and because Bay selected the Power Play feature her prize was multiplied by 3, the multiplier selected. Bay selected her own numbers and let the computer pick the Powerball.
When asked what she planned on doing with her winnings, Bay said she plans purchasing a new home, paying bills and sharing with her family.
Since the Oklahoma Lottery launched, more than $145 million in prizes has been won playing Oklahoma Lottery games, said Jim Scroggins, Oklahoma Lottery Commission Executive Director.
Proceeds from Oklahoma Lottery games are used to support improvements and enhancements for education purposes and programs at all levels of education, Pre-K to higher education. So far more than $101 million has been transferred to the Oklahoma Education Lottery Trust Fund.
