Press Release

OKLAHOMA CITY (May 12, 2008) – Linda Cable, an Edmond resident, won $400,000 on May 10 playing Powerball with Power Play. Her immediate plans for her winnings include buying a new house.
Cable purchased her winning ticket at Short Stop Grocery at 2915 E. Waterloo Road in Edmond.
“I purchase my tickets there because it’s convenient and I like the employees,” she said. “I found out Sunday that I had won. I was so surprised all the numbers matched and I am so happy to win.”
Cable matched all five white balls missing only the Powerball number. By selecting the Power Play option, Cable doubled her prize to $400,000 for an extra dollar.
Cable encourages others to play and says she plays the Lottery because it supports education.
Net proceeds of all Lottery games are used to support improvements and enhancements for Oklahoma education. More than $190 million has been contributed to education since November 2005.
Proceeds are used statewide to supplement existing funds for a variety of important education purposes, including: teacher compensation and benefits, early childhood development programs, college scholarships, classroom technology and construction of educational facilities.
