OKLAHOMANS CASH IN ON POWERBALL
WINNERS OF $400K AND $200K CLAIM TICKETS
OKLAHOMANS CASH IN ON POWERBALL

OKLAHOMA CITY (May 12, 2008) – Linda Cable of Edmond and Carlton Berry, Jr., of Fletcher have claimed their winnings from the May 10 Powerball drawing. Cable cashed in her ticket for $400,000 while Berry won $200,000.

Cable purchased her winning ticket at Short Stop Grocery at 2915 E. Waterloo Road in Edmond and said her immediate plans for her winnings include buying a new house.

“I was so surprised all the numbers matched when I found out that I had won,” she said. “I was so happy.”

Cable matched all five white balls missing only the Powerball number.  Since she selected the Power Play option, Cable doubled her prize to $400,000 for an extra dollar.

Berry purchased his winning ticket at Hop & Sack at Highway 227 North in Fletcher and plans to use his winnings toward retirement. He usually plays the Lottery twice a week and picks his numbers based on birthdays and ages.

Both Cable and Berry encourage others to play because the proceeds support education.

$20K Ticket Claimed
A $20K ticket was also claimed by Bill Mead, a Blanchard resident.

Mead matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball number. By selecting the Power Play option, he doubled his prize to $20,014.

Mead purchased his winning ticket at Love’s Travel Stop at 1326 S. 4th in Chickasha. He has been playing the Lottery twice a week since its launch and chooses his numbers through Easy Pick.

“We found out on Saturday that we won and we were just in shock.”

Net proceeds of all Lottery games are used to support improvements and enhancements for Oklahoma education. More than $190 million has been contributed to education since November 2005.

Proceeds are used statewide to supplement existing funds for a variety of important education purposes, including: teacher compensation and benefits, early childhood development programs, college scholarships, classroom technology and construction of educational facilities.
