OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – October 13, 2005
Instant scratch-off sales continue to be brisk on day two as the Lottery’s first $5,000 prize winners stepped forward to claim their prizes.
“Yesterday by five o’clock, we saw six $777 winners and today another five claimed the top prize in the Lucky 7’s game. Today, we started seeing our first $5,000 winners in our Rush to Cash and Oklahoma Gusher $2 games,” said Jim Scroggins, executive director of the Oklahoma Lottery.
The first person to receive a $5,000 prize was James R. Glover of Oklahoma City. By late afternoon today, an additional 12 players had claimed top prizes. The breakdown is as follows:
5 $777 Lucky 7’s winners (eleven total top prize winners)
3 $5,000 Rush to Cash winners (four total top prize winners)
1 $5,000 Oklahoma Gusher winners (first top prize winner)
By 3 p.m. today, Lottery sales were $3.68 million, based on ticket activations. Scroggins also said the number of contracted Lottery retail outlets now selling tickets has reached 1,235. Another 193 retailers are awaiting satellite communications and terminal installations.
“Once the retailer’s satellite and lottery terminal have been installed and are operational, the tickets are then sent to the retailer for activation, which happens within a 48-hour period, not including weekends,” said Scroggins. “This is why some retailers are not sellingtickets even though their terminal and satellite communications have been installed.”
