OKC RESIDENT CLAIMS $800K POWERBALL PRIZE
The Oklahoma City man who won $800,000 in Saturday night’s Powerball drawing was only minutes away from missing his window of opportunity to buy a ticket.
Randy A. Jones purchased his Powerball ticket only minutes before the end of ticket sales on Saturday night.
“I don’t usually buy my tickets at this particular store, but it was close to the 8:59 p.m. draw break, so I hurried to the nearest Lottery retailer,” Jones said.
Jones purchased his winning ticket at OnCue Express #100, located at 5900 W. Reno Ave in Oklahoma City.
He plans to use the money to payoff his house and live comfortably.
Jones was one of eight people in the U.S. to correctly match all five white balls, missing only the Powerball number. However, Jones was the only person to also spend the extra dollar to purchase the Power Play multiplier, which made him the biggest winner of the night.
The other seven tickets, worth $200,000 each, were sold in Connecticut (2), Louisiana (2), Minnesota, New Mexico and Pennsylvania.
The winning numbers from Saturday’s draw were 13, 25, 30, 40, 43, and the Powerball was 12. The Power Play multiplier was 4.
The Powerball jackpot for Wednesday’s drawing has rolled over to an estimated $51 million.
Net proceeds of all Lottery games are used to support improvements and enhancements for Oklahoma education. More than $154 million has been contributed to education since November 2005.
