ARDMORE MAN WINS $10K PLAYING POWERBALL
OKLAHOMA CITY (Sept. 23, 2008) – Tom Johnson of Ardmore has claimed his winning Powerball ticket worth $10,000. He had only been playing the Lottery for six months.
Johnson has no secret to his beginner’s luck. His ticket was an Easy Pick, and his first thought after realizing he had won the $10,000 was a big ‘hooray!’
“I checked several tickets online from July and August,” he said. “The winning ticket was the last one I checked.”
Johnson’s winning ticket was from the August 6 drawing and he purchased it at the Big Apple #1 in Ardmore. He said he would encourage others to play.
Net proceeds of all Lottery games are used to support improvements and enhancements for Oklahoma education. More than $220 million has been contributed to education since November 2005.
Proceeds are used statewide to supplement existing funds for a variety of important education purposes, including: teacher compensation and benefits, early childhood development programs, college scholarships, classroom technology and construction of educational facilities.
