MOORE RESIDENT CLAIMS $600K POWERBALL PRIZE
Rachel Lea Hamilton, a resident of Moore, Oklahoma, claimed her $600,000 Powerball prize late Friday. She was one of the nation’s two top winners from the Wednesday, Sept. 19, Powerball drawing.
“This prize makes our lives more comfortable and secure,” Hamilton said while claiming her prize at Lottery headquarters in Oklahoma City. She plans to use the money for retirement and investments.
Hamilton purchased the winning ticket at Nhu Shop, a convenience store in Moore. She plays the Lottery every draw and has already purchased her next Powerball ticket.
Her advice to others playing Powerball is to purchase the $1 Power Play multiplier, which tripled her Sept. 19 Powerball winnings.
“You better play Power Play even if you get less lines of numbers, because you will kick yourself if you don’t play Power Play and you win!” Hamilton said.
The next Powerball drawing is Wednesday at 9:59 p.m. The jackpot has risen to an estimated $61 million.
Net proceeds of all Lottery games are used to support improvements and enhancements for Oklahoma education. More than $139 million has been contributed to education since November 2005.
